Chicken tour

Last weekend was the chicken coop tour. 150 people came to our house and looked at our chickens. lots of people liked our coop because they got to handle the chickens as well as learn about them.

it is Japanese stile. it has bamboo hanging all around it.

 

we are going to breed silkies in here. we thing a white roo

and  paint and white hens. Sage is also going to move into "the silkie tea house". picks will be up soon!

Dogs need adopting

To day I went to the Atlanta Humane Society to look at animals.

There was English Muffin

He is a Whippet mix.

There was Ivey

There was Danish

And one of my favorites, Dakota

She is a deaf Dalmatian \ Australian Cattle Dog mix.

I wish I could take all these doggies home with me but we already have 2 dogs. hope these puppies all get good homes.

A Hot Hot Day

With 102*F the chickens are panting like crazy! A coop tour lady came 2 days ago to check out our coop. It's so hot the chickens don't even want to come out. 

We give them a cold fresh apple. While I hold slices of apple for the chickens to eat, Sage jumps up and eats the apple hanging from the chicken wire.

Sage looks wet because when we were watering we accidentally watered her.

Bonita is laying her egg in the coop.

  

And after minutes of sitting in a hot coop she finally layed her egg.

  The Garden is a bright green and everything is surviving even after the chicken attack.

We're building a new deck and while my daddy was pouring the footings the chickens got in and did this but it is growing back fine. 

Broody again

Sammy is broody again. She sits in the nesting box all puffed up. Today I pulled her out to eat fresh grass. Hope it helps.

Spring in the Garden

It's spring.  There are new flowers and plants in the garden.

It's a nice day so the chickens get to go out.  

But Bonita is stuck in her nest laying an egg.

Noni's hut

My friend and I made a hut for Noni.

We tiled it.

We used sand to make it stick.

My friend Claire did the tiling and did the sand room (it is more of a mud room now).

We made it for Noni but Gale is now using it for a spring board and it is getting destroyed.
